Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery

Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery

The School has a history which dates back to the first ever School of Nursing opened by Florence Nightingale and is regarded as a centre of excellence for nursing and midwifery education. We currently provide education for around 1,200 full-time nursing and midwifery students as well as a wide range of continuing professional development programmes for registered nurses and midwives.

Our philosophy is that both education and research should positively influence the quality of care provided by nurses, midwives and other professionals. To this end, we work closely with many NHS trusts and other healthcare organisations in and around London.

The School forms part of the Waterloo campus of King’s on the South Bank of the Thames. The campus has recently undergone a multi-million pound redevelopment and comprises state of the art teaching, library and computer facilities. Most of the teaching takes place in the Waterloo/Strand area or at our modern new clinical skills laboratories at London Bridge.
